Holistic and Alternative Therapies In Different Parts Of The World.

Many areas of the world have therapies which are peculiar to them. A lot of these use energy which emanates from the soul or aspect of God which is present in every living being. This energy is called upon by way of prayer or meditation.
In Africa tribal with doctors/medicine men use trance or hypnosis to bring the healing force to the surface. It is then used to work with the person who requires healing. The ancestors are, in many cases, called upon to work with the medicine man in their subtle form.
Music is also evident in bringing about healings in traditional cultures. The people have a natural affinity with nature and the planet. They combine drumming, using different beats to invoke different spirits and to deal with different ailments, with deep meditation and herbs. The approach is holistic and combines different methods.
In the middle ages Europe was known to have traditional healers who healed using herbs and incantations. The medicines which they used were, indeed, efficacious. They brought about many cures. However due to a lack of understanding on the part of the Church these doctors of their time were condemned as witches and burned at the stake or tortured to death by priests. They were accused of interfering with the will of God.
Today, in India, there are many herbalists and Ayurvedic doctors, who are successful in bringing about cures. Many people prefer to go to them than to allopathic doctors. Aayurveda and herbal medicine work more slowly than allopathic medicines. However they treat the source of the illness whereas allopathic medicine treats the symptoms.
Reiki originated in ancient Tibet thousands of years ago. This therapy, which uses energy, yantras and mantras was practised by Buddhist monks. However this was a hidden art and was eventually lost. It was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the late 19th century.
